Of all of the toy breeds beloved around the world, the Shih Tzu has coveted millions with its charm and unabashed glamour. Underneath a miniature mountain of hair is the heart and soul of a truly unique canine being. Sturdy, standing not more that 10.5 inches this is an intelligent, active and alert breed, both friendly and independent. Described as having a chrysanthemum like face because the hair grows upward on the nose, the long dense coat requires considerable care.

Shih Tzu are generally outgoing and friendly and has an attitude that cries to be spoiled, the dog will steer you in the right direction with his self-assurance that he should be treated like royalty. He is a fine companion for children, particularly those who enjoy combing his hair.
